Law enforcement officials stated on Monday that they had effectively disrupted a elaborate plan to detonate IEDs at numerous locations run by two US-based businesses on New Year's Eve in the LA region. "The plan was detailed," the attorney stated. "It laid out step-by-step instructions to build IEDs … and named several objectives across the county of Orange and Los Angeles."

As per the investigation and the complaint, the plot involved positioning rucksacks packed with complex explosive devices that were scheduled to be set off all at once at midnight on New Year's Eve at five places. New Year's Eve was identified as an opportune time since the scheme stated "fireworks will be going off at this time so blast noises will be more difficult to be heard."

The eight-page handwritten plan, titled "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," stated that further locations could be added. The facilities were described as premises and operations operated by two separate companies involved in operations involving interstate and foreign commerce.

Long-term Plots and Evidence Seized

Court documents also stated that two members in the collective had discussed later attacks focusing on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and transport with IEDs in 2026. One suspect according to the complaint said that such attacks "would take some of them out and intimidate the rest of them."

The plotting were allegedly discussed both at an in-person assembly in Los Angeles and through an encrypted communication application.

Photos included in the court documents show a remote camp with what officials identified as bomb-making materials laid out on makeshift work surfaces.

The complaint details that the suspects "all brought explosive materials to the site, such as various sizes of tubes, believed to be an oxidizer, fuel, powdered charcoal, powdered sulfur, and items to be used as igniters, along with other items."

The plan also contained guidance on how to construct the bombs and how to avoid leaving traces that could be linked back to the faction. The accused had not long ago purchased chemical ingredients and other items, via buys from major websites.

Operation and Aftermath

The FBI took action last week while the suspects were rehearsing the strike in the isolated region near a California town. "They possessed everything they needed to make an functional IED at that site," the attorney said.
