The families of teenagers unaccounted for after a devastating fire at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are enduring an painful wait for answers and pleading for clues about their children publicly.

The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Verified video reveal the ceiling catching alight as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 40 people and hurt another 119. Authorities stated on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with the process continuing to locate the remaining few.

In the waiting period, relatives have been taking to social media to appeal for information about their friends who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she said.

She continued that some of his peers had been located with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through an absolute nightmare."

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that a number of of its young people are still unaccounted for.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

"A close friend said they ran away after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators stated, "I've always been struck by his good nature and positive demeanor, combined with great maturity. Often offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her sibling has published an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her other nation say they are actively engaged with the situation.
