Almost 55,000 households have currently been harmed by the storms, with their possessions and temporary homes damaged.

Persistent rains over the recent period have intensified the precarious situation of the vast number of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, according to aid agencies.

"Awful" Conditions Brings Serious Dangers

A official characterized the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with downpours so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"Last night was really terrible for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the gusts were so powerful," said the official.

There is extreme worry that minors living in makeshift shelters in soaked garments will succumb to hypothermia and additional ailments.

Deaths and Widespread Destruction

Health authorities have reported that one baby has passed away from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures due to the severe weather.

Other reports indicate a higher death toll. Spokespeople said that several structures had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces submerged.
  • Countless residents required to find new shelter.

Assistance Efforts Seen as Not Enough

Agencies have escalated deliveries of tarpaulins, blankets and clothing after the ceasefire began, but they stress there is remains not enough aid entering.

"We are working relentlessly to bring in that assistance and to hand it out, but the scale of the necessities is so immense that we still have a great number of families and children who are genuinely struggling each evening," warned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Ceasefire Plans

The next stage of the truce includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of personnel, and other conditions.

Aid bodies have stressed the necessity for "increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to meet immediate and long-term requirements."

The hostilities was initiated by an attack in October 2023. Subsequent military operations have led to a substantial number of lives lost in the region, according to official figures.
