Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign seeks to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists contributing to Lullaby features a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The team running the project have clarified that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is launching on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
